Azerbaijan accused Russia of a large-scale information attack

A large-scale information campaign against Azerbaijan has been launched in Russia.

The campaign, organized to incite anti-Azerbaijani propaganda in Russian society, is being carried out through TV channels and news sites, social networks and radical individuals.

A large-scale anti-Azerbaijani information campaign has been launched from the territory of Russia. Oxu.Az reports this with reference to the statement of the Commission for Countering External Interference and Hybrid Threats of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

It is noted that the campaign began immediately after the interview of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the Al Arabiya TV channel in Saudi Arabia on August 27. The president’s answers to questions about the Zangezur Corridor were taken out of context and presented to the Russian audience in a distorted form.

The commission emphasized that the propaganda is being conducted through TV channels, news sites, social networks and radical individuals. Facebook, Instagram, X, as well as profiles and bots on behalf of citizens of other countries are widely used.

Targeted advertising in the Azerbaijani segment of social networks with threatening information against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was separately noted.

The statement added that the campaigns do not influence public opinion in Azerbaijan and are aimed only at inciting hostility in Russian society based on fake data.

Recall that after signing the peace agreement with Armenia, Aliyev stated that the authorities were monitoring the sources of new threats and were building up military power for security. The statement came against the backdrop of aggravation of relations between Baku and Moscow and threats by Russian propagandists to launch the so-called “SVO” in the South Caucasus.

Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev condemned previous Russian attacks on Azerbaijani energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
